What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder? I am honest, compassionate, skilled, knowledgeable, driven, and have the innovative ideas that will make this office a valuable resource for our community. Any cookbook! My family loves to congregate in the kitchen and cook together,.
Are there any little-known powers or responsibilities held by this office that you believe more people should be aware of? This office has the power and duty to the tax payers to do more than listing and value properties. The Assessor's office has the power and responsibility to make public the information they gather on the market trends that are effecting values, create more awareness in the public on programs available to our disadvantaged populations and non profits, and create better accessibility to members of the community that find it difficult to reach the downtown offices.
Do you believe that it's beneficial for holders of this office to have previous experience in government or politics? I believe that it is important that the holder of this office has experience in appraisal both inside and outside the office in order to be objective and independent of any bias that can form from having a one sided perspective.
I believe that experience in our government and legislative process is beneficial as working with other government offices and officials is a must when dealing with statute and implementing policy changes. What kind of skills or expertise do you believe would be the most helpful for the holders of this office to possess?
The Assessor's office is a working office and a knowledge of appraisal and being able to translate an ever changing economic market into value is a must. The Assessor is responsible for managing over employees and the budget that goes along with that so experience in management and budgeting is valuable. However, the most important skill the holder of this office can possess is the ability to be fair and equitable to everyone, residential and commercial property owners alike, and the ability to set aside biases based on personal perceptions.
As the new Assessor I bring to the office 24 years of experience in management, customer service, real estate, and appraisal both inside and outside the assessor's office.
I have the unique perspective, knowledge base, and extensive list of qualifications that will allow me to value properties and treat all tax payers fairly, equitably, and without bias. With these same qualities I will also turn the office into a true resource for our community. Note: Ballotpedia reserves the right to edit Candidate Connection survey responses.
